Episode 06: The Story Brainstorming Workshop – Part Two

Show Notes for Episode 06: The Story Brainstorming Workshop – Part Two

Alone in a Room with Invisible People is a podcast focusing on topics related to writing, revising and publishing fiction.

PART TWO: This experimental episode covers the closing up of the brainstorming.  Author/Teacher Holly Lisle walks host and writer Rebecca Galardo through the consult phase of the session.  Remember that when it comes to brainstorming you can go back and forth and falter.  The purpose of the consulting author is to help guide and act as a tether, helping their fellow writer find their way through the story and uncover gems.

If you want to try what Holly now calls ‘The Ball and The Wall’ Technique with a friend or fellow writer, we have the guidelines available as a download on our Download Page.

  1. Could both the grandmother and grandfather be magic-born, but perhaps elemental? Maybe grandfather has magic that is tied to the ocean/water and the grave dirt/earth would not be a suitable burial for him?

    1. I LOVE the elemental magic idea to separate the two of them and their types of magic. And the idea of the types of magic shouldn’t be buried together is cool!
